1. What is a Map? / 地図って何？
A map is a picture of a place. It shows where things are, like countries, rivers, and mountains. There are different kinds of maps, such as world maps and city maps.
地図（map）とは、場所を表す絵のことです。国や川、山などの位置を示します。地図にはさまざまな種類があり、世界地図（world map）や都市地図（city map）などがあります。

The Earth has seven continents:

3. How to Read a Map? / 地図の読み方
Maps have special symbols and directions. The compass rose shows the four main directions:
