In Japan, people greet each other by bowing. Bowing is a sign of respect and is used in many situations—from saying hello to saying thank you. You can also say “Hello” in English or “Konnichiwa” in Japanese.
日本では、おじぎをしてあいさつします。おじぎは、あいさつだけでなく「ありがとう」の気持ちを伝えるときにも使われます。英語では “Hello”（ハロー）、日本語では「こんにちは」と言います。

In the United States, people usually say “Hi” or “Hello” with a big smile. They often shake hands when meeting someone for the first time. Close friends might wave, hug, or give a high five!
アメリカでは、にっこり笑って “Hi” や “Hello” と言ってあいさつします。はじめて会う人には握手をすることが多いです。なかよしの友だち同士では、手をふったり、ハグをしたり、ハイタッチをしたりしますよ！

In France, people greet each other by saying “Bonjour,” which means “Good day.” Friends and family sometimes greet with cheek kisses, called “la bise.” It’s a friendly and warm way to say hello!
フランスでは “Bonjour”（ボンジュール）と言ってあいさつします。「良い一日を！」という意味です。友だちや家族とは、ほっぺにキスをする「ラ・ビズ」であいさつすることもあります。とても親しみのある、あたたかいあいさつですね！

In South Korea, people often bow when greeting, especially to elders. Saying “Annyeong” is a common and casual way to say hello among friends, but with older people, they speak more politely.
韓国では、あいさつをするときにおじぎをします。特に年上の人には、ていねいにあいさつするのが大切です。友だち同士では “Annyeong”（アンニョン）と言ってカジュアルにあいさつしますが、年上の人にはもっとていねいな言い方を使います。

In India, people greet others by pressing their hands together in front of their chest and saying “Namaste.” This gesture shows respect and peace. It’s a beautiful way to connect with others.
インドでは、胸の前で手のひらを合わせて “Namaste”（ナマステ）と言います。このしぐさは、あいてを尊敬する気持ちや平和の心を表しています。とても美しいあいさつの方法ですね。

In Indonesia, people say “Selamat pagi” in the morning. A traditional greeting called “salim” is used when younger people greet elders. They gently take the elder’s hand and touch it to their own forehead to show deep respect.
インドネシアでは、朝は “Selamat pagi”（スラマッ パギ）と言います。年上の人にあいさつするときは、「サリム」という伝統的なあいさつを使うこともあります。これは、年上の人の手をとって、自分のおでこにそっとあてることで、深い敬意を表す方法です。

In China, people say “Nǐ hǎo” when greeting someone. Handshakes and smiles are common when meeting someone new. Older generations used to greet with a fist-and-palm salute called “gong shou.”

In Brazil, people often say “Oi” or “Olá.” Friends usually greet with hugs or cheek kisses. Brazilians are known for their warm and friendly greetings!
